<br/>Le 18 mars, le CNHS - NCGW organise un colloque sur « The time of the Houzeau de Lehaie Brothers: the swansong of self-taught scientists » à la KBR. Le colloque s'intéressera à la formation, aux pratiques, aux œuvres, aux réseaux sociaux, aux positions philosophiques et politiques des scientifiques autodidactes, dont certains ont acquis une reconnaissance nationale ou internationale. Il examinera la vie et la carrière de ces producteurs de théories, d'idées et de recherches scientifiques dans un siècle où les sciences se professionnalisent et se spécialisent de plus en plus (en termes d'outils, de ressources et d'enseignement). Cette dynamique allait conduire à la marginalisation progressive des scientifiques autodidactes, un aspect que le symposium se propose d'aborder. L'inscription est gratuite mais recommandée à astrolabium@astrolabium.be.

Le 10 mars 2004, Erik Duverger, historien de l'art spécialisé dans l'histoire de l'art moderne et s'intéressant particulièrement au tissage des tapisseries, membre de la Classe des Arts, est décédé. La conférence "The time of the Houzeau de Lehaie Brothers: the swansong of self-taught scientists"
Le 18 mars, le CNHS - NCGW organise un colloque sur « The time of the Houzeau de Lehaie Brothers: the swansong of self-taught scientists » à la KBR. Le colloque s'intéressera à la formation, aux pratiques, aux œuvres, aux réseaux sociaux, aux positions philosophiques et politiques des scientifiques autodidactes, dont certains ont acquis une reconnaissance nationale ou internationale. Il examinera la vie et la carrière de ces producteurs de théories, d'idées et de recherches scientifiques dans un siècle où les sciences se professionnalisent et se spécialisent de plus en plus (en termes d'outils, de ressources et d'enseignement). Cette dynamique allait conduire à la marginalisation progressive des scientifiques autodidactes, un aspect que le symposium se propose d'aborder. L'inscription est gratuite mais recommandée à astrolabium@astrolabium.be.

Prix Erik Duverger
L'appel à candidatures pour le prix du Fonds Erik Duverger est maintenant ouvert. Le 10 mars 2004, Erik Duverger, historien de l'art spécialisé dans l'histoire de l'art moderne et s'intéressant particulièrement au tissage des tapisseries, membre de la Classe des Arts, est décédé. En souvenir de son œuvre savante, Mme Duverger a décidé de créer un fonds au sein de l'Académie royale flamande de Belgique pour les sciences et les arts afin de financer un Prix Erik Duverger, qui récompensera tous les deux ans un important travail original d'histoire de l'art ou d'histoire portant sur les Pays-Bas jusqu'à l'année 1900 et s'appuyant fortement sur des sources d'archives. Le montant de ce prix est de 5 000 euros.
